Print and analog media revivals aren’t just “nostalgia”

Some people assume that Slow Media is a nostalgic or conservative reaction against digital culture. My research on the persistence of print and analog media negates that view. Proponents of Slow Media don’t feel they need to choose between enjoying digital media and embracing slower forms. Pulling one closer does not perforce mean pushing the other away. Some zines have grown out of blogging communities and some blogs have grown out of zine communities, in a recursive process. These cultural producers see little contradiction in using digital and print media, recognizing their complementary aspects.
